This honey coloured mohair teddy bear is a Replica 1908 hot water bottle bear. In 1906, an extremely harsh winter fell on the city of Berlin and covered it in snow. Steiff being a company of innovators, converted a teddy bear to hold a metal hot water bottle in its tummy, bring a little warmth into the cold, cold days & in March 1907, this hot-water bottle bear was registered by Steiff as a design.
This special 58cm mohair bear with boot-button eyes, wool felt lining in his body & wood wool filled elsewhere was reproduced in a limited edition of 1,908 pieces.
